A meat kappo restaurant in Nagoya with the best auctioned off Japanese beef

On the basement floor of an office building near Nagoya Station in Aichi Prefecture, “Nikuya Setsugekka NAGOYA” is a restaurant that is quietly located in a corner of the bustling underground. It is a meat kappo restaurant that serves the best wagyu by the famous Satoru Tanaka, who is known as the "butcher".

Mr. Tanaka, who was born and raised in a family that runs a butcher's shop, said he often touched meat from a young age and had been cutting it with a knife since he was 10. At the young age of 25, he opened his own yakiniku (grilled meat) restaurant. His uniquely styled menu and stylish store design caught people's attention and now has 18 stores across Tokyo, Nagoya, Gifu and Shiga. “Nikuya Setsugekka NAGOYA”, among which, opened in 2016, is also on world-famous gourmet guide.

"I would like to express my respect for the sweat of the fields inherited from the producers and the life of the raw materials that were given the blessings of the earth and nature, and sincerely respond to them," says Mr. Tanaka. He auctioned off the top Japanese beef with high scarcity such as "Kobe beef" and "Special Matsuzaka beef" and serves at the restaurant. From appetizers to the main steak, the restaurant only serves graded meat, and proudly state that "the best yakiniku restaurant in Japan". The heat source is charcoal fire. The restaurant is a meat kappo style that serves 11-12 dishes in a course. You can choose from fillet, sirloin and chateaubriand for the main steak. There is a variety of champagne and French wine that is suitable for the taste of the meat. The sommelier will select according to your preference.

The interior design is based on Japanese style. The counter that uses a single ginkgo biloba is limited to 10 seats and there are also 2 private rooms for up to 4 people. "Snow, Moon and Flower", the meaning of the restaurant’s name, represents the natural beauty of Japan, meat-loving guests from Japan and overseas would travel all the way in search of the finest meat in “Nikuya Setsugekka NAGOYA”. It is a recommended meat kappo for family, friends, and private use such as a date or a meat party, as well as business occasions.
