Akasaka Ninomae is a classic kaiseki restaurant set in a calm space in Akasaka, a blissful experience that allows diners to forget the bustle of the city. The restaurant specialises in delighting its guests with cuisine, entertainment, and hospitality that cherishes each customer as an individual, with course after course of stunning food prepared from ingredients woven by the four seasons.
Chef Hideki Nakajima previously served as the deputy chef at Japanese restaurant Nadaman in Osaka (as well as other upscale Japanese restaurants), and became head chef with the opening of Akasaka Ninomae in 2017. Mr Nakajima and his deputy visit Toyosu Market each day to create dishes from the ingredients at their peak depending on the time of year.
The restaurant’s name, “Ninomae”, expresses a desire to humbly aim for the best. Matsuba crab is popular with guests and a seasonal pleasure when available, with the theatre of handling the crab in front of diners proving especially popular. For drinks, select wines and sakes are preferred; the best seasonal sakes are offered to guests, with styles ranging from the young to the old; traditional to modern, centering on Kuroryu from Fukui. Wines hail mainly from California’s Kenzo Estate, with wines chosen to match dishes.
Instead of a single dining room, the restaurant offers a series of private rooms that can be customised to the occasion or situation according to each guest and their party, from family gatherings to business entertainment. An English language menu is available for overseas guests, and English-speaking staff are on hand to assist and provide any services according to guests’ wishes by prior consultation.
