A two-star Korean restaurant in East Ginza, Yunke Ginza impresses diners with original Korean medical dishes and authentic court cuisine.
Chef-owner Mi-Wol Yoon is the 36th generation of the revered Yoon family, entrusted with managing the royal family’s dining since ancient times. One of only three awarded the title of Kimchi Master in South Korea, she is savvy and engaged with the restaurant business both there and in Japan.
Yoon visits Tsukiji each day, carefully selecting the freshest Japanese ingredients, such as hairy crabs from Hokkaido and cutlass fish from Hyogo Prefecture. Korean ginseng and jujube, indispensable for medicinal dishes, are procured from high quality suppliers in Korea. All seasonings are free from additives, and for seasoning, grilled mulberry salt (a blend of roasted mulberry leaves from Sangcheon, Korea) is favoured.
One of the restaurant’s signature dishes is soy sauce-marinated crab; fresh hairy crab is marinated in a special medicinal soy sauce for 15 days to bring out its unique flavor. Additionally, Yoon’s original Korean dishes and samgyetang, a combination of Korean ginseng, jujube, chestnut, ginkgo nut and glutinous rice, are also popular. The restaurant also offers rare sake like Korean Shochu Premium JINRO 乙 16 Years and Kokuryu's Ishidaya and Nizaemon.
The modern, calm interior is accentuated with decor courtesy of Korean artists, and offers 4 fully private rooms. In addition to private rooms accommodating 2-14 guests, up to 20 guests can be accommodated upon reservation of the entire restaurant. It presents a perfect spot for gatherings, and is also ideal for health and beauty-conscious diners.
