This more than 20-year-old restaurant, located down a little alley in Akasaka, is like a private hideaway. The owner-chef, Mr. Koshimizu, is very inventive with his finest ingredients. The seafood soups are rich and flavorful, as you would expect from an island nation, and the meat dishes, made with premium Sendai Beef or their original brand pork "Kumabuta", bring out all the rich yet delicate flavors of the meat. They also serve a number of other now-famous dishes, such as a homemade smoked cheese bake, Sendai Beef sushi, and omelet risotto with truffle and foie gras (legendary food a former US president admired, saying “Unbelievable”).
After dinner, the restaurant can be used as a bar. You can enjoy a quality adult time while sipping on whiskies and liqueurs carefully selected by Mr. Koshimizu. (Available only to guests who have dined at the restaurant.)Drinks are chosen specially for each dish by senior sommelier Mr. Miura, with the chef’s wife, Miharu. He is known as a vin jaune expert. Since the course offered is paired with drinks, you can enjoy the marriage of food and drink that goes beyond any one genre. They also have an impressive selection of whiskeys and liquors from the good old days, as well as vintage Madeira wines.
Mr. Koshimizu has his own smokehouse in Karuizawa, and is a pioneer of smoked seasoning. Perfect for entertaining special guests or close friends.
