A counter-style French restaurant mixing straight-from-the-source ingredients of Ishikawa's Noto, and revered technique, to concoct uniquely visionary dishes.

A two-minute walk from Azabu-Juban Station, 'Kamatsuda' is an attractive hideaway blending refined sophistication and casual downtown vibes.
Modern and classical masterpieces decorate the walls, inviting guests down the stairs that lead to an underground dining hall where modern art and black-toned interior meld to produce a playful yet comfortable mood. Here, 'Kamatsuda' offers a unique assortment of first-class ingredients from Ishikawa prefecture's Noto Peninsula, in creative and visionary arrangements, for a French cuisine bursting with originality.

Owner-chef Ken Kamatsuda, having been oft-exposed to French cuisine as a child, naturally grew fascinated with the art of eating, and with the life of a chef. Having honed his skills through opportunities like the opening of Roppongi's Grand Hyatt Tokyo, he opened "Kamatsuda" in 2015.

'Kamatsuda''s specialites are the brainchild of this crafty chef's trips to Noto; several times a year, he travels to the peninsula, seeking inspiration from the rare ingredients he meets. One such example uses a Mr. Omura's three-year-old turkey, from Wajima-Monzen; raised and wrung locally and sent whole to 'Kamatsuda', the chef proceeds to roast this astoundingly fresh turkey on a grill adjacent to the counter area. Served with original sauces utilizing the more of the season's fruits, the dish is simply delicious. The plentiful bounties of Noto's surrounding seas, such as delicate blackthroat seaperch and kanburi yellowtail, are also sublimated into visionary French dishes via chef Kamatsuda’s masterful art, and served to visitors in vibrant beauty. Not to be outdone, the fruits of Noto's land, wonderful farm-fresh organic vegetables from 'Takanoen', 'Kamatsuda''s contract-farm, illustrate the background of the chef's dishes, heightening its colorful attire.

Of course, 'Kamatsuda' is not only about the food experience; its cellar is no pushover, and its bartenders craftsmen. Do try their pairing menu, or the dazzling fresh-fruit cocktails of the season. If unwilling to drink, no worries, as 'Kamatsuda' provides a non-alcoholic pairing menu as well; the famous teas from 'The Tea Company' are so well-received that the restaurant offers take-home gifts. Across from 'Kamatsuda' is its gift-shop, 'La Charcuterie Kamatsuda', which offers not only teas but menu items such as onion-gratin soup, terrine, and tarte tatin as well, for a delicious yet casual take-out experience.

Based on chef Kamatsuda's mantra of a "kitchen as a stage", seating is centered on the 7 counter seats, with 2 tables for 3-4 in the background. With a lively proximity to the kitchen, the counter is great for singles, while the more relaxed mood around the table seating makes it a perfect setting for dates, receptions, and anniversaries. With a seat for any occasion, and a gourmet experience sure to be awe-ing for any indulgent adult, 'Kamatsuda' is a premier spot sure to satisfy your every desise and need.
