Referral-only, "Azabu kumasan " in Osaka's Kita Shinchi district does not publicize its address and phone number. Now, this mysterious yet popular meat kappo cuisine makes its way to Tokyo. The referral only restaurant "Azabu kumasan " opened in 2018 in an area of Azabu Juban known only to those in the know, and has been mesmerizing meat lovers ever since.
Chef Shota Murakami learned his technique for Japanese cuisine at the Japanese ryotei, "Kioicho Fukudaya," and honed his skills at various restaurants in and around Ginza before becoming chef. The multi-course kaiseki course features Japanese black wagyu, and is a pleasurable feast of Japanese and Western fusion dishes that highlights Chef Murakami's seasoned Japanese cooking artistry. He explains, "We provide a kaiseki style multi-course meal of meat that is neither just grilled meat, nor just steak." And because he uses meat from various places including Hokkaido, Sendai, Kobe and Kagoshima, comparing the different varieties is an experience unique to " Azabukumasan." The cutlet sandwich is a popular dish that can be enjoyed year-round, more specifically, the Chateaubriand Cutlet Sandwich "Kuma Sand" with the logo imprint right on it. For drinks, they offer champagne and old vintage wines. Customers can enjoy pairing their drinks with the kaiseki meat dishes.
As it is a referral and reservation-only restaurant, the entrance has a private stairway, and for the uninitiated it looks like you cannot enter. The interior has a black color scheme, with copper that looks rusted, for a sophisticated and stylish ambience. There are 7 seats at the counter, and a private room with a table for 6. Enjoy a refined meat kaiseki meal with family, friends, or colleagues in a private setting. The restaurant also provide English menus, so foreign guests can feel comfortable tasting the exquisite flavors of Japanese black wagyu.
